Resand’s new SaaS agreement with Termit strengthens their position as a provider of sustainable foundry materials

Resand Ltd, a Finnish technology company specializing in environmentally friendly foundry sand reclamation and recycling, and Termit, a leading Slovenian mining company producing silica sands, cores, and auxiliary materials for foundries, signed a five-year Sand as a Service (SaaS) agreement in February 2026. The agreement was also signed by the Mayor of Moravče Dr. Milan Balažic, who welcomed the initiative and fully supports it. The municipality is happy to encourage local companies to invest in sustainable technology and thus further contribute to nature conservation.

Through the collaboration, Termit intends to deploy Resand’s reclamation technology at its Slovenian facility, along with Resand’s innovative SaaS business model and process-support services. Resand’s technology enables the circular use of sand resources in Slovenia, reducing the need to procure virgin sand, decreasing landfill volumes, and reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 100 kg per ton of reclaimed sand.

Termit is a leading expert in innovative technologies for the foundries. With decades of expertise, its programme of sand production and auxiliary materials covers all foundry production processes, from core production and melt preparation to forming, coating, and finally casting, for all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The company specializes in producing cores from its own precoated, dried, and sieved sands using Croning and Cold-Box processes.

With Resand’s solution, clay, organics, and impurities can be thermal-mechanically removed from used foundry sand, enabling Termit to restore the sand to near-virgin quality for its Cold-Box core-making processes and to offer premium thermal reclaimed sand products to its customers. By introducing a closed-loop circular sand system, Termit strengthens its position as a provider of sustainable foundry materials in Central Europe. For Resand, the cooperation strengthens its presence among silica sand producers and opens the door to additional service centers and reclaimed-sand hubs in the region.

“Termit combines deep expertise in silica sands with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, which makes it an ideal partner for Resand. Together we will create a circular, high-quality sand ecosystem for Slovenia and the wider region,” says Mikko Immonen, CEO of Resand Ltd. “By deploying our sand regeneration technology at Termit, we show how foundry sand can be transformed into a premium raw material with both economic and environmental benefits.”

“Resand has proven industrial experience with thermal-mechanical sand reclamation. Resand’s scalable business model is ideal for Termit’s diverse product portfolio. With these benefits, this cooperation is a strategic fit with Termit’s long-term modernization plans and sustainability roadmap,” says Anton Serianz, CEO from Termit.

The cooperation reinforces the shift in the European foundry supply chain from linear to circular sand management and is also at the worldwide forefront of sustainable sand regeneration, demonstrating how even the most challenging waste streams can be transformed into high-quality, reusable raw materials.

Resand Ltd in brief

Sand suitable for industrial use is becoming scarce. However, the extraction of virgin sand can be reduced, and the resulting loss of biodiversity is slowed down by regenerating and reusing sand. Resand Ltd is a Finnish technology company specializing in foundry sand regeneration, offering its customers clean sand as a service. The Resand® solution enables almost 100% recycling of foundry sand and reduces transportation costs and CO2 emissions.

Resand Ltd is headquartered in Nuutajärvi, Finland, and has staff in several European countries. The company aims to achieve strong growth in the European foundry market and to expand its business outside Europe.

The Resand® brings a solution to the global challenge by recycling sand - again and again and again. www.resand.eu
